A PENNY FOR MY THOUGHTS?
I was soooooo looking forward to reading this book... You want to know why? Because of the cover!!! People always say, 'Don't judge a book by it's cover!'...But I always do! If the cover doesn't catch my attention...It takes me a lot longer, to sit there and decide if I even want to look at it's back description!!! (unless I already know the author) But what grabbed me about this cover, was the fact that this girl reading, was about to walk off the porch...and she was completely oblivious of the fact!!! This is something I would/have done often!!! Another reason, Karen Witemeyer is the Author of A Tailor Made Bride, One of my favorite reads of 2010!!!
Now to the inside of the book...This book, like her other, is filled with mystery, danger, and of course ROMANCE! Adelaide is a lover of the classics, her favorites...Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Jane Eyre. And she compares the men in her life, to the hero's of these stories! (Something I sometimes catch myself doing :)
It was really a coincidence that Adelaide even happened on the ad for a governess to Gideon Westcott's little girl Isabella. To get out of the area, where she recently humiliated herself, with her romantic notions, she applies, and is taken out to the ranch with 2 other women to have a final interview with Gideon and Isabella.
Gideon Westcott, the youngest boy of an English Lord, is in America to prove that he can do something worth while. But on his way to America he finds himself with a little girl, who doesn't speak now that her mother is dead. But with Sheep Shearing upon him...he can't spend as much time with the girl, as is needed...So with Bella's help, he needs to pick a governess.
Through an interesting beginning Adelaide is chosen, for the way she got into the child's heart at the onset...not to mention the Rancher's!
Everything seems to be going well, until there is word that Isabella's uncle was coming to claim her...Causing both Adelaide and Gideon to become as protective as a momma bear. They don't only have to worry of loosing Isabella...but also their Hearts! Will Gideon be willing to do what is needed to Keep Isabella and Adelaide safe? and will Adelaide Finally get her Romantic ending she's always envisioned?
I Give this book a 5/5!!! I highly recommend this book to anyone!
